Lee Richards is a jewelry artist from Union, Missouri. While exploring the many avenues of artistic expression that her college art department had to offer, she discovered the metals studio, fell in love and never looked back.  She has a B.S. degree in art from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana.

 

Lee’s unique jewelry is inspired by her love of different cultures and by the multitude of textures that can be achieved through different metalsmithing techniques such as hammering, etching, piercing, enameling, etc. The multiple layers of her pieces also adds another dimension to the visual and tactile appeal.

 

She is actively involved in many Missouri arts organization. She is a juried member and the current vice-president (2017-2019) and past president of Best Of Missouri Hands (2014-2016), an active member of and past board member/membership chair for the Society for Midwest Metalsmiths; juried member of Greater St. Louis Artists Association (GSLAA), one of the co-chairs for the bi-annual GSLAA event Art Fair At Queeny Park; Board member and Show chair for the bi-annual Artists Boutique Arts & Crafts Fair.

 

Lee participates in many art shows throughout the state of Missouri and surrounding area. She has been privileged to receive awards at many of these events. Among those awards are Best of Show in Effingham Art Show, Effingham, IL; 1st place in 3-D at River Arts Festival, Hannibal, MO; 2nd place in Best Of Missouri Hands “With These Missouri Hands” exhibit to name a few.
